Life on Air – Memoirs of a Broadcaster by Sir David Attenborough

One of the best autobiographies I have read. How does one review this? 50 plus years of producing so many programmes. It started with him quitting a dull job. From then on he would be a pioneer from using the latest technology to be the first to capture scenes/animals on camera and even bring some of the animals back for the London zoo or his private collection.

He did all this with BBC, another pioneer to first broadcast television, introduce colour, and air shots never seen before. The book has the same elegance he has on TV. Typos and grammatical errors did not matter compared to how ensnaring it gets. Everyone has daily/weekly/monthly highlights from looking forward to that weekly meal to passing a shop everyday just to get a glimpse of that item you want. This hardback was my daily highlight, I just wanted to sit on the bus and take the long way home just to read more. David and visited so many different cultures in so many places in the world.

Made so many marks especially in the hearts of people. The adventures he goes through just to get the shots of certain animals, and fulfilling his desire to see/capture on camera… the birds of paradise.

There were times on the bus I had not choice but to give out a hearty laugh to his gentle yet to the point humour or political correctness. You feel you were with him throughout, the emotions, the anxiety, and the joy. Oh and it has pictures too :o) Even those tell you of history as they start with black and white pictures and by the end you’ll see some fascinatingly vivid images.

I don’t want to stop, I want to put down every program, every … THING! Which would mean I want so get the ebook and send it to you lol. Big up Miheer for lending me the book.
