Muhammad Ali vs. Larry Holmes

Muhammad Ali vs. Larry Holmes:

I’d seen this fight in Don King: Only In America, which was a cinematic portrait of the boxing promoter. Just thought I’d note that coz it was a movie worth watching 3-4 times hehehe. Ok so the fight was messed up. Larry Holmes used to be Ali’s sparring partner. He knew Ali’s moves in and out. Even though Ali never showed his best stuff he was in with an old friend. But that’s not why Ali lost. You could see Holmes was holding back. Ali’s was open most of the rounds for god sakes. Their statistics were similar too apart from the 9-year age diff and weight. Note: Ali had to lose ENOUGH weight to fight and it was his first fight in 2 years. But that was still not why Ali lost… here’s where Ali lost… age got to him, he was slow and if you look carefully he was already starting to get the Parkinson eyes and expressions. How dare I? I just tell it how it is and Ali’s accepted it, he’s not given up on life though. What he has to say about his condition now just proves he is The Greatest. You gotta hand it to him coz through those 15 round he was still giving Larry enough lip. Hahaha… I bet there was times Larry musta thought I should just knock him out and get it over and done with. The ref, Ali’s manager… enough folks kept insisting to stop round after round and finally it happened. The commentator was kinda rough expecting Ali to put on a good show and all but hey Ali wanted to go out like that… kinda like ‘passing the torch’. Ok I got a lot more to type so real quick… The fight was titled The Last Hurrah and after the fight Ali was checked up and it revealed that he had a hole in the membrane of his brain. Don King had withheld this report and let the fight to go on. Ali admitted tingling in his hands and slurring speech. Etc and stuff.
