Translated and Edited under the direction of Sant Ajaib Singh Ji
The book is in the form of question and answer between Kabir and his disciple Dharam Das.
Kabir says that he was born of a miracle and not of his parents (Mother – Nima and Father – Niru). He married Loi who was also his disciple and had a son – Kamal and daughter – Kamali and made a living being a weaver.
Both Anurag Sagar and Sant Mat traditions maintain that Kabir is a proto-Master/original saint who has descended 4 times, in each yuga.
He became Ramanananda’s disciple even thought he would only take in Hindu disciples. Different people have their say from how Kabir didn’t have to take a guru as he was the one to how he had to do it to liberate his master. Kabir tricked Ramananda by turning into a child and got stepped on and Ramananda lamented gods name. Hindu people were upset as Kabir claimed that because of this incident he’s now Ramananda’s disciple.
Kabir’s successors or the Kabir-panth have Hindu and Muslim followers. It is said to be founded by Kabir and Guru Nanak. Sadly it’s reduced itself to ritual only. Hindu and Muslim disciples were about to fight for his dead body when he resurrected and told all to leave him alone for a while. When they came back all there was left was flowers for all to share.
A “Mritak” is someone who is “dead while alive,” meaning they are completely detached from worldly desires and fully aware of God. A Mritak serves the Satguru, manifests love, and remains unaffected by external circumstances, much like the earth and sugar cane in their respective analogies. Achieving the state of Mritak requires immense bravery and dedication, as it involves controlling the senses and focusing solely on the divine. Only those who embody these qualities can be considered true Sadhus, who realize the Satguru and attain liberation.
The male genital is wicked and sinful. When you feel lust immerse yourself in Shabad (divine word or sound) and Naam (divine name or the essence of God). Sin is translated as forgetting of origin or godhead. So nothing makes a male forget his higher self like an aroused genital organ.
Lots of parables, hymns, couplets.
Brahma was born, who was given the Rajo Guna and the five elements.
Vishnu was born and was given the Sato Guna and the five elements.
Mahesh was born and was blessed with Tamo Guna and the five elements.
Conflicting note on Vedas: It is a great mistake to assume that the Vedas proper are a spiritual document; they are not. At a later date under the influence of the Masters of that time, the writings known as the Upanishads were added to the Vedas as a kind of spiritual appendix. All Indian Masters from Buddha onward have been very consistent in this: that the Vedas are to be ignored and transcended.
– EGG-BORN Andaj; birds, reptiles, etc. Includes all animals where birth takes place within a fixed time of conception, from eggs laid by the mother.
– SEED-BORN Uttbhul or asthavar; the immovable creation. Includes all plants.
– MOISTURE-BORN Setaj or ushmaj: the lower forms of animal life whose birth, while it may be from eggs, is the result of external stimuli, such as the change of seasons, increase of moisture, etc. Invertebrates.
– WOMB-BORN Jeraj or pindaj, animals whose young are born alive from the womb and are nourished by the mother. Mammals, including human beings.
– BODY OF MAN Man is biologically a mammal; the difference between him and the other mammals-the spiritual dimension-is due to the presence of the fifth element, akash (usually translated as “sky”) which is
non-physical.
(Followed by a break down of good and bad qualities of each type.)
