ART Excel Acton Town 12-16 April 2010
First day – was good. Usual set up, name games and what not. Funny bit was when we brought up the topic for plays one kid said Holly Oaks. Mostly they’re Somali kids with one action packed white kid and one Indian looking one. Most of them have been divided into like 3-4 kids per assistant and we all got our own difficult ones. I’d spotted mine (Yusuf) even before he was assigned to me but he’s not that bad, I just can’t tell him what to do so I challenge him instead and when it comes to the important stuff like yoga and meditations and breathing he’s good. Then there was the 3 legged race and these two girls had the best coordination man. One two one two one two… till the end… and they were the the smallest ones there. They won the second time too so yeah I’m backing them for races lol. I’m was still drained from crashing at Viv’s then Sag’s and all the partying and stuff. Marco’s not sorted out the net at home so I think facechoons and mails might be out of the question this week. Got so much to sort out and I’m worried by the time I get home the cybercafe’s and post offices are gonna be closed. Anyway go with the flow… just glad to be doing ART Excel… needed a unique distraction and well… here it is.

Day 2 – Started out good. Got my sleep so I was ready. Looked for a post office since I was early but didn’t find one. Ended up buying Krave, new cereal Viv and I’d been wanting to try. See one of the kids there and she says she’s not coming in today… find out coz it was her birthday. Played catch till all the kids were in… Zurha’s getting violent and wild but we’re tight now coz of that. For some reason she understands me… well not for some reason… I can identify so it was easier for me to explain it to her. Anyway today Egli and Lukhman were even more out of order and they got to Joshua. That way my kids are good, Yusuf want’s to be left the hell alone while Zurha wants to do the opposite so instead of saying do this I have to praise Abdulahi and she’s try to compete. Abdulahi loves his meditation man… a bit too much… sometimes does it when he’s not meant to. Today they learnt the happy breath (Kriya) and played extra sport after lunch. Was pretty wild… oh and Carolina joined us. Today’s main bit was having to spend extra time with Zurha for getting physical with Amira and 2 other girls. It’s kinda helping me too but we’ll talk about that in later days to come. Oh and then get home to Bacco and Delton bitching about Kent being gay. Now I’ve heard them bitching to bond before but it aint my style. First of all we not sure about Kent, second what does it matter and third… who wants to talk about who’s gay and how many women they’re pimpin? What are you going to do with that information? In fact I got a small thought on that I’ll publish soon on my replies to sexuality.

Day 3 – Used to call day 3 crack day coz thats when the breathing and yoga breaks the kids down. And coz of these kids backgrounds there so sooo much swearing, kicking and just… oh man… all the teachers lost it at least once. I lost it and kinda swore too which was not cool but it got their attention. Bit up Shobna, Nayla and Sarojben for the lovely food and cake. What else… Zuhra loves her fights and most of the time I’m chasing her around to behave or stick with class… at one point she nearly walked out all packed but it was more to get my attention so later I had to stop giving her so much. Thing is my other kids are too cool… Abdulahi is a gem and Yusuf may have the attitude of a hoochie but he’s good people. Oh yeah Joshua sent the ball flying to my head from one end of the goal to the other so had to pause and get my bearings back. Oh and the kids were even kicking me… Rahma especially… she reminds me of Kanye. The debriefings are starting to take long after the kids have left and I got urgent things to do!!! Anyway before that I needed up bumping into the wildest kid Egli and he was doing what he loves best… football. Today I talked a lot about Naruto with the kids coz they understand that better so I explained mostly to Zurha and later Egli that this breathing is like Naruto’s training where he does not like to do his training but in the end he’s sworn never to give up and now he likes it coz he knows how to use chakra and jutsus etc. They were really curious why we teach for free and end up paying on our side so I was like once I found how much chakra I can get and use it for my powers I feel like I want everyone to feel it too. Lets see tomorrow if Egli gets it. Today was rough and as much as I agree with Joshua about useing a cattle prod tomorrow lol (just joking), but he’s doing him. One of the assistant teachers was getting on my nerves for being so negative and not giving kids a chance, like the last thing they wanna hear is another adult constantly telling them not to do things and pointing out their mistakes. But hey I was doing me so it’s all good. I also feel Mrudula should get more props AND responsibilites. But that kinda seems political or punish and reward or something. Oh yeah my kids were really good with their practices today too coz whoever was good got prizes for breathing, honesty, being helpful etc. The breathings got me feeling things too but like I said that’s for later. So yeah debriefing, sort out urgent postage. And some unwind time.

Day 4 – Got lots done. Lots of games. The blindfold one was too funny coz Aaron was not looking where he was taking his blindfold dude and dude walked into the gate. Then there was Ramla and Yasir… Ramla and I was cracking up coz Yasir took extra time to hold sticks and stuff and feel the texture and all. Good on your Yasir. Oh yeah Sridevi came over to take photographs for us to go on papers… ALL OVER EUROPE… Imagine that! I don’t know man day 4 always has some magic to it, be it basic course or whatever. And lets just say some wishes come true some things fall in place etc etc. Rehearse songs. And the last two headcounts worked out so fast… usually takes more than 3 goes to get it right. Plant trees with the kids as our seva/service project. Auditions for the play. Debrief. Decide to go for pizza but first over to Su’s to sort out certificates, press release and one gangsta meditation. The last time I got so many jerks was when I did my Sahaj Samadhi meditation course with Su. Ended up hitting Jonathan at one point. But yeah even sleep these days is that lovely sleep be it on the tubes or bed. Time for pizza, lots of lovely food at Franka Manka or something like that. Taz and Nick drop by. Taz stays over for some food. Chit chat etc. Told ya day for is like magic.

Day 5 – Finished this silly book Viv asked me to figure out. Everyday I’d chill in the cafe coz I was early as usual and so it was hot beverage and reading till it was time. Get a surprise for my group… mostly some chocolate croissants that I didn’t like lol. Oh and after last nights meditation I’d been so spaced since. Even forgot to do my homework and sort out a script. Painting meditation. Now my Zurha likes being difficult so she thought she’d be clever and paint the whole sheet black coz her eyes were closed during the meditation and thats what she saw right… wrong… according to the adults they read all kindsa darkness into it. Su had given me the camera for the week and I was like dang man I wanna be in some pics! Anyway Shridevi will hook that up. Was not happy about the dude with beard = God stuff. Man trying to get the kids to listen for a second to rehearse for the play was nuts but somehow it always works out. Friends and fam come over to see the drumming, singing and play. Shut up shop and bye byes. Get to McD’s just to mail you guys the Friday publication. What can I say gotta have some disciplines. Oh but McD server was down so I’m at JD Wetherspoons. So packed and everyones getting their drink on ready to party and this Gayanian couple were good enough to share their table. I’m looking ruff and on a posh as Mac on a busy Friday eve… picture that it you will.

The crew – Head teach Su amazing as always. Big up Jagruti for hooking it up and letting me know I don’t need the CRB to come. Big up Shobna, Nayla and Saroj ben for the grub… love the way they talk, just wanna pinch their cheeks. Mrudula was an ART Excel teach but she’d never taught the 5 day one and I guess it was new to her in a way. Everytime I saw her name tag I’d crack up silently coz it looked like MR. UDULA. We had Jonathan who usually takes the YES course. Peter was amazing, soft spoken, great a footie and just well mannered and all. We had Joshua the loud one that kept things in check and gorgeous Carolina, not my type coz she’s tall and skinny but I just wanted to take the Photoshop colour picker and sample her face for swatches. Lovely pastel colours from skin, hair, lips, eyes and clothing. Picture a blond Angelina.

So yeah… this was exactly what I needed, was feeling extra depressed with no work and love life on pause after being fed up of these 2 month stand situations. And other things. Guruji usually says best cure for depression is seva/service and boy has it helped. The physical affection from kids even if it was kicks and pinches, the feeling of doing something that helps, being busy constantly, etc. And some how some way… wishes just come true. I’d kinda forgotten about my past and when I saw the kids I was like I feel you man so I got to appreciate how far I’ve come since then. Hell I even feel like adding a song for old times sake.

Heart don’t fail me now, Courage don’t desert me,
Don’t turn back now that we’re here,
People always say life is full of choices,
No one ever mentions fear,
Or how the road can seem so long, How the world can seem so vast.

Somewhere down this road, I know someone’s waiting,
Years of dreams just can’t be wrong,
Arms will open wide, I’ll be safe and wanted,
Finally home where I belong,
Well starting here my life begins.
Starting now I’m learning fast.

Home, love, family. There was once a time I must have had them too,
Home, love, family. I will never be complete until I find you.

One step at a time, One hope then another,
Who knows where this road may go?
Back to who I was, On to find my future,
Things my heart still needs to know,
Yes let this be a sign, Let this road be mine,
Courage see me through, Heart I am trusting you,
To bring me home.
At last! At last!

My First Eviction Letter 12th May 2010

My First Eviction Letter 12th May 2010
Let’s take it back a month. It’s April… there’s not internet and the housemates (especially myself) are not pleased. Then the shower busts. Landlord is reluctant to come and when he does he’s like it’s only my duty to maintain electricity and heating. That was the first sign I knew there’d be trouble in the future. The shower is working but not the way it used to. Before we could use it on full power and adjust the heating. Now on full power it makes me dance by alternating from extra scalding hot to extra cold. Not the way I like waking up. So I text landlord and he’s trying to get away with things. I’m busy waking up earlier than normal, as I’m helping teach meditation and yoga and stuff to 20 Somalian kids, when it is much colder. I’m texting him with lots of patience and explaining whats going on and why it’s bothering me. He’s like keep it on medium power now and full heating. But it’s not hot enough for me! I like starting a warmer temperature and slowing amping it up to steaming hot. On top of that everyday the temperature changes no matter how full I put the heating. So a few cranky wake ups like that and I lose it and text him telling him it’s the second time this has happened… third time we take it to court and play ball.

See the court bit was just to scare him right… like he wasn’t picking up my calls or replying to my texts unless I sent him threats. Well it worked a bit too well lol. He said he’s got the other housemates to bare witness and I’m like 1. That not what the other housemates tell me as they complain too. 2. I figured I needed a wintess so I have my advisor come and ‘bare witness’ for me. I understand BK can handle the temperature I mean this is a dude that was roaming in the house in his boxers in winter when the heating was not working. And anyway why am I paying the same about when the standards have dropped from when I first moved in. So anyway dude says he’ll come over and he doesn’t. Few more days same thing so I threaten not to pay full rent and he’s over in a flash.

Now the both of us are in the shower… he’s adjusting things for about 10 minutes to prove his point that I can get the temperature I want and once I figure it out I should always remember that setting. Umm… I don’t think so. First of all I don’t want to court the shower till it gives me what I want. Second I don’t want to stick to one main temperature. And finally … infact screw finally… there’s just too many things wrong with this picture. So I explain to him that I don’t wanna be doing all that as it’s wasting my time and giving me distress. Note: Distress is a hot court word. Basically it spoils the rest of my day then. And I even added that my ‘advisor’ has asked me to note down when it ‘distresses’ me and what the conditions where and what I tried etc. So I told him thats how it wastes my time even more… he gets a worried look on his face and says the shower is insured so he can call the plumber but the plumber is gonna say the same thing and he does not like the tone in my texts. I say the texts should indicate how much it’s bothering me so YES, please do call the plumber and get it sorted as it’s a landlords duty to do such a thing.

Kent and BK are downstairs laughing… well Kent mostly as he’s like he’s happy to be moving out as he had the same problems. I’m like why don’t you guys stand up for it. BK does this kinda work so he’s like I was gonna fix it myself but Landlord said it’s insured and bla bla. I figured the landlord was a sweettalker but avoiding your onus? I let landlord and housemates know that I was raised to fight for what is owed to me and this is owed to all of us (MLK stylie lol). So landlord agrees and says he’ll sort it out and I’m like much appreciated and even thought I said I wont pay full rent I understand you had a son last month so you’re kinda busy etc.

Then his true colours came and disappeared so fast like a peacock fanned out, slapped me, fanned back in and silently walked away with his beak up. It was pretty smooth and the only thing I didn’t account for in my ‘game’. He brought up the ‘advisor’ I kept refering to. I’m like he helped me a long time back when another landlord and the landlord ended up having to pay extra to fix up the house. He’s been sending me texts to the matter and comes over every now and then to bare witness right. Dude’s like oh ok. Then he mentions when I want to move out and I tell him I have not intension of moving out, I like the place, I cool with the housemates, etc, etc. All I want is the shower fixed so I can go back to not bothering you about my botherations and pay my rent on time as usual. Oh man… finally he’s like so you’re serious about this advisor. I’m like I told you, I fight for what is mine and will be on your case for you to do your bit. His hand is inside his jacket by now… ‘in that case I’m sorry but I have to give you this’.

TAN-TARAN!!! My first eviction letter. Part of me was excited about the eviction letter, part was like wicked I can finally look for a place in the South or Camden, and part of me was like what a hassle man! I like change but I had a schedule too and now I gotta put a few things on pause to look for houseshares again. So clever, asking me about the advisor, getting me to admit I like living there and then telling me to make the most of it for 28 more days. But we were both cool about it coz at the end of the day he does not want someone who’s going to threaten him and I don’t want a landlord that is going to be this reluctant and evasive. Baby or not, I can’t compromise on my rituals and necessities. Anyway I don’t want problems as this has disorganised my mindspace enough as it is.

Life is Buttons, Switches, Knobs and Screens

Life is Buttons, Switches, Knobs and Screens
Wake up to my mobile alarm, the screen says 4:30… I press the snooze button. 3 More times and it’s nearly 5. Switch on the light and see a screen with my reflection. Not a pretty sight at 5am. Get my things and get in the shower, close the screen door and turn some knobs. (Was gonna mention something funny about knob hygiene but just the mention should be enough). I notice something new in the bathroom, housemate got herself a toothbrush with… guess what… A BUTTON! Look at my computer screen and press some buttons to add some new music and charge my mp3 player. Back to he screen with my reflection… fix up the mess I saw early… the eyes will work out themselves as I wake up slowly. Get in the bus, tap my card, screen says 3 days to expiry. Look through large screens till I near my stop and press a button to let the driver know. Get to the work entrance and press a combination of buttons to get in. Repeat the process on a second door. Switch on the lights and my computer. The whole day now I’ll be seated in front of a screen hitting buttons. Look through the window screen to the other room and there are my coworkers doing the same.

Lunch time. Get to the shops and get my lunch. The lady passes my lunch across a screen and asks me to pay. I insert my card and follow instructions on the screen. Hmmm 4 buttons to press, I better get this right. YES! But wait forgot to ask for cash back… repeat process at an ATM. By now lunch is over and after lunch I gots to have a chocolate! Spot a vending machine and behind the screen there’s all sorts of goodies… I’ve been craving the dark chocolate Bounty so press the respective buttons for the machine to drop my candy. Screen says I got change but it’s not coming out… oh I gotta press a button for that too.

Work… same old. Finish work and since I left my bike at work I’ll cycle to the gym. Turn a few knobs on the combination long and off we go. Get to the gym… soooo many more buttons and screens and displays of all sorts. Treadmill, exercycle, crosstrainer, rowing machine… looks like my fingers are getting a workout too. I’m done and feeling like I wanna relax to a movie and some company. The cinema next door is perfect so text my date so we can both relax by sitting still and silent to an extra large screen and to see better I have this frame on my face that has a couple of little see through screens to make my vision better.

GOOD AND EVIL by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar (MONTREAL CANADA AUGUST 2004)

GOOD AND EVIL by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar (MONTREAL CANADA AUGUST 2004)
Dearest Guruji. After so many years on the path I’m finally starting to see how the divine cares for me. And that I am protected. For those with strong faith on/and a spiritual path, this appears to be so. However, what about victims of terrorism, abuse, slavery, starvation and tortures. They do not appear to be safe and protected. So is it that divine protection does not extend to all people on earth? Only those with a good fortune who do have faith? Please comment.

You do not know the mind of divine. You cannot fathom it. You cannot fathom all the mysteries of the world, you can only wonder about it. If you just stay with this question. Why the problem, why the problem. I don’t know when you will get an answer for it. Instead you should think what I can do? What I can do to help this problem. Suppose, imagine in this world there is no misery at all. Do you know one thing, all the good qualities will also disappear. I’m sure this is a tough truth to accept. You may not like to accept it because it is not too pleasant. For good qualities to exist, for compassion to exists, service to be there, kindness to be there… its opposite is essential in the world. Suppose there is no suffering, on who will you be compassionate? You will be compassionate on one who is very happy? What will happen to the quality of compassion? How will you even know compassion? That’s why the first principle of Art of Living… Opposite values are complimentary! The biggest gift to the world of theology. World of philosophy. From Art of Living is this first principle, Opposite values are complimentary. People do not know. They just are grouping in darkness. Not knowing opposite values are complimentary. They think everything is opposing. There is a fight always between good and evil. You know good and evil are friends also. In Indian mythology this comes. That both good and evil decided to play a drama, so they both came to the earth, one became a hero the other became a villain. And of course the victory is always to the hero. And then the hero thanks the villain for making him victorious, and the villain thanks the hero saying I’m so happy to be defeated at your hand and if find salvation because you defeated me. The good defeated.

This is something that is startling, it’s the story between Ram and Ravana. And Ravana the wicked was killed and the last breath of his life he says ‘I’m happy to be killed by you’. Because by that I only think of you, I attain you. What is called poison is sometimes a life saving drug. In fact if you looking at all the life saving drugs, its written poison. (laughter) And vitamins if you consume more than certain limit, that can kill you too. Opposite values are complimentary. This is a very profound knowledge. World over in theology people are struggling to place evil. Where to place evil? If God is omnipresent, omniscient… where is this place for evil to exist? If evil exist other than God, then God loses his qualification of omnipresence, number one. He loses the qualification of omnipotent, if he’s so potent why did he allow the evil to exist? And why does he warn people against the evil, number one. And then you have many stings of questions like that. Why wont God take care of the evil before it destroys everybody? Why wont God get so angry when he’s omniscient, when he knows everything, every step that is going to happen. Not a blade of grass will move without his will. Then what happens to this evil, where do you place the evil? It’s in a big mess I tell you. (laughter)

For centuries volumes have been written, people have argued back and forth. How to even count for the existence of evil. At the same time accept the omnipresence and omnipotence of God. Do you see what I’m saying? I mean we need not go into the theological discussion. Good and evil are just relative. God is absolute. They are two different fields. The ancient rishis explained in a beautiful manner. They said… the whole building, everything here is made up of wood. This is one level of truth. Yes, everything here is wood. That’s true. But the table is not the chair and chair is not the door. You can’t sit on the door. Nor put the chair for a door. Yes here everything is wood, on that level. Like atoms. Everything is atom. It is same atom which is in chocolates, same atom which is in carbon. In charcoal, you can’t gulp the charcoal. Same atom in a diamond as it is in a charcoal. Same even molecules. You can’t gulp a diamond. Or hang a charcoal in your ears. On one level there is only oneness, God comes from that level. Of everything is made up of one thing. Omnipotence. And in that there are diversities. Though it is the same wood, still it is different. One is cedar and another is sandalwood another is something else, teak wood. There is differences. And this is what is missing. There are big theological colleges. I tell you, if you just sit with them, the confusion they are in. It’s so obvious. This has robbed the smile from their faces. I’ve attended many conferences, I’ve yet to see a really childlike smiling, FREE theologian or intellectual. I think some of you should get into those colleges (guruji laughs) and bring in more life. More joy. Ya, we have to bring in that. Our education will have to make us more happier. Not so serious and bogged down.

Guruji, is it ok for us to have feverishness for the divine?
When the water in impure you put the alum. The alum removes the impurities and dissolves itself. So like that, the feverishness for truth, for divinity, for good company, can be the last feverishness. So it can replace the other ones, otherwise your mind will definitely clog onto some other feverishness. Please please take my chattering mind, I don’t want anymore mind. It’s talking too much. And it’s going all over the places. Love and gratitude. Wake up and see, where does the mind go, what does it want. We begin like that, what is that I want? First thing. Write it down whatever it may be. I want this relationship, I want this money, I want this fame, I want this, I want this. Write them down. Mind becomes so much more clearer. Its when you don’t know what you really want or long for. That’s when the mind is all over the place. And when you do not know how to achieve it, its even more trouble. And just know that even after achieving all that, you’ll be in the square one and the same place where you are. Really no use.

HMMMM? Look at all those people who have so much money. Are they happy? Look at those people who have so much fame, are they happy? Do you find satisfying or uplifting smile in those faces? Do you find them contented? No. And that peace, contentment, serenity is not in them. You look at your face into them mirror, you have much more joy and serenity than the so-called successful people in the world. Isn’t it? Hmmm, they are in a rat race. All the big industrialist, they are so miserable, they are in such a rat race, you know. Such showing off. You have how much wealth, I have so much wealth, I will show off, you show off. And then see where they end up. They’re like, really, you know, foolish kids. Really, their talks are foolish. So stupid. Their conversations are unworthy of even listening. So childish. Have no context for life. Don’t see life in context with the whole. With the vastness. With the vastness of time and space. Hmmm? Do you want to be like them? (laughter). Yeah, I tell you money is needed. No doubt. Work for money, I’m not saying just sit and daydream. Oh one day God will open the sky and pour money on my head. An angel will come on a carpet with a bowl full of gold and will give you. It’s not going to happen. Don’t sit and daydream. Don’t buy lottery ticket and look at your astrological chart. When is good luck going to come to you. It’s not going to come to you. There’s an old proverb in Sanskrit which says… tinga-linga-ling-school-bell-ring. (Paras note: Might have spelt it wrong hehehe) One who puts his effort and one who is courageous, to him the wealth will come, the goddess of wealth will come. You need to be courageous, brave, entrepreneurial and then effort. Just being courageous, not enough. One who puts the effort. So work hard, work intelligently. Money is needed but money is not all that, that is. Life is much more than that. Life is much more.

You know when the president of world bank met with me, he asked me, ‘Your holiness, please tell me the secret of your success. In the world bank we initiate so many social projects, we hardly get any success. How come your projects are successful with such a small amount of money? Less than a million dollars you’ve achieved so much result, so much has been accomplished. How is that possible?’ I told him it’s not just the money that works. Not money alone that works. Something more. It’s our volunteer’s motivation. Said, love and dedication to do work that makes you accomplish your work. What you cannot achieve at 10 million dollars, just over less than a million dollar could do that. The governments are astonished, how 21 thousand villages have been adopted. So much work happened. Hundreds of medical camps happened. Thousands of trees were planted. You must have seen all those details. How much seva happened in one years time. Then he called all his staff and said we should all have a permanent relationship with Art of Living. (applause) Said this meeting should not end here. Said we should have continuous programs happening. Lot of people are learning Art of Living here. Don’t clog yourself only to money. Life is worth much more huh?

You say come back to awareness of your body and environment at the end of meditation. I never lose awareness of my body or the environment. (laughter) Am I doing something wrong?
You know in meditation if you’re too conscious, oh what’s happening now, what’s happening, where is my mind going, am I here, am I there. In fact too attentive, too alert… meditation is not going to happen. You’re not going to relax. Meditation is not just doing that you know. Too conscious, too alert, too watchful every moment, what’s happening… no. Meditation is not concentration. Don’t concentrate on meditation. It is just letting go, relax. Hmmm? Its like when you sleep you lose the awareness of the body. In meditation, similar. You don’t know where you are but you know you are. I’m not just that. Many different type such experiences might happen. So don’t look for experiences. That becomes an obstacle for you. If you sit and… where is my experience, where is my experience. It’s not going to happen.

Dearest Guruji, I’m experiencing intense tidal waves of cravings. I don’t know how to handle them. What do we do when these cravings arise? How do we resist giving into bad habits and cravings?
A little cleansing and fasting would help you. Couple of days of just fast and juice or raw food or undergo some cleanse.

Dearest Guruji, what is the final balance between discipline, love and scolding? Sometimes I’m too soft or too hard on my loved ones. How do we teach them the right lessons with love and fairness?
How do you know you are too hard or too soft. What is your standard of measuring that. Perhaps they need that hard or that strong stance. See when you judge yourself that you’re too hard too soft, that becomes a problem. You don’t feel good about yourself. When you don’t feel good about yourself, you’ll never make others feel good. If you start accepting the way you are, you will start accepting the others the way they are also. Ya? Something to think about.

Dearest Beloved Guruji, I would like to ask you about being too sensitive. What can I do? Is this something good or not? With much love.
Who said you are too sensitive? Forget about it. Come on wake up. (Guruji laughs). When you brand yourself too sensitive. Then you prepare to get hurt. When you get hurt, then you pity yourself. See I’m too sensitive, I’m no good, I get hurt. You think you get hurt, you get even more hurt. Wake up the valour in you, come on nothing can hurt me!

What is the meaning of Natraj crushing the human body under his feet?
Natraj is the dancing Shiva. Under his feet there is a demon. This is a symbol. Demon is call apasmara. Means utter inertia. Natraja is total consciousness. The consciousness which is full of vibrance and dance. And that steps on the apasmara. Means the inertia. That means the opposite values are co-existing. Under the feet of the dance is the inertia. The dullness. That gives the whole picture of wholeness. In the wholeness, dullness is also part of it. Not just the waking… sleep is also part of it. Not just the dance, the lethargy is also part of it. To give you the full image of the wholeness. They put the opposites. One is the beautiful… standing on the ugly.

Dear Guruji, why do I crave some much for the attention and approval of others? How can I overcome this?
This is good, when you start getting more into knowledge listen to Ashtavakra. Go again and again and again. Delve more into knowledge. And understand everything is changing in the world. What is others opinion about you, so what, someone appreciates you today. How much time will it take for them to take back their appreciation. If they appreciate you, how sure are you that they are not jealous of you? And tomorrow if they blame you, what are you going to do? Let them blame. Don’t make your life football of their opinion. You know this you will understand the more you grow into knowledge huh?

With all due respect I have read of you being a living saint. What does that mean to you and how do you keep your ego out of it? Having people revere you is odd, isn’t it? Or did you always know that you had a gift to inspire others?
You know if someone reveres you, so what? Whom are you revering? When someone appreciates a painting, they’re appreciating the painter. When someone praises you, why you shrink? Why you feel uncomfortable? You should feel absolutely comfortable. And when someone blames you, then also you feel comfortable. If you are shy for compliments, you will be devastated when insults are hurled at you. In the Gita, the first thing Krishna tells Arjuna, he says ‘be equanimous’. Even if someone praises, doesn’t matter, so what. And someone blames you, doesn’t matter, so what. Nothing should touch you. People’s words, their actions, their reactions, their adorations or their blames just blow with the winds. You are there, fully centred, satisfied, unshaken. That is the whole knowledge. There is a saint in each one of you. Its wrong to think that sainthood is bestowed on somebody after they have died, and if they show some miracle here and there. Is a completely wrong principle/policy. Saint means the simplicity. Saint word comes from the Sanskrit root Sattva. Sattva means one is clear, harmonious, pure, unruffled… at home. You can be at home! You can be unruffled. And that seed of sainthood, I feel, is in every human being. Hmmm? It’s not a great deal about it. So just don’t worry. Just be like a child. I say I’m a child who refuse to grow up. Every baby is a yogi. Born yogi. And then they lose that yoga as they grow older, they lose that innocence.

Have you seen children? They do all the yoga asanas. When they are born, their legs are up in the air, they don’t sleep flat like you. They do the boat pose. (laughter) Their head is up, their legs are up. And then they try to catch hold of their toes. And then they do cycling. And then they go on the tummy. And then they do cobra pose, bojang asan (spelling). And then little while there, they do tricun asan, they crawl and one hand they lift, turn back and see, what’s happening behind them. They fall on the cheek, again they get up. If they fall by themselves nobody there they don’t cry. But if they see someone watching them then they start crying. (laughter) When they fall by themselves they wake up and they go happily. And they alternate their hands, they turn on this side and lift their hand and look. Haven’t you seen, just watch a baby. From the time it’s born to the age of 3 they do almost all the asanas. They put all the mudras (hand reflexology kinda thing). They suck the thumb, they sleep with chin mudra, then chinmaya mudra. All that they do. That’s why yoga is so natural. Its observing animals, observing human beings, observing different species, that which was conceived is yoga. It helps the growth of the mind, body.

But people say oh yoga is all devilish, satanic. You shouldn’t do yoga. It’s so unfortunate. You know in Europe, one in every third child, sometime or other goes to psychiatrist. In Washington DC 33% of youth go to prison. It’s alarming, they have committed some or other crime at some time. In such situation, these students, these kids they all need to be taught yoga. To balance their body, mind. The president of Croatia found the value of yoga, he found how his family been saved from disasters, difficulties. So he introduced yoga, immediately the church opposed oh this is all satanic. Made a big protest, withdraw yoga from the education system. It’s so unfortunate. We are not in the middle ages where all the scientists were prosecuted. It’s a free world. We should of course protest against alcohol, drugs, gambling, all these sort of things which destroy human life. Not which promotes human evolution. Wherever it comes from East or West doesn’t matter. What is needed is the welfare of mankind. We should see everyone being happy. And that is real religiosity, isn’t it? That’s unfortunate if people brand yoga as from the Satan. We all need to educate those people. Call them, have dialogue with the fanatic/fundamentalists. Educate them, hey come on, all it is is a simple exercise which uplifts your body, mind and spirit. Doesn’t matter whatever you believe. You can believe in 7th heaven, you can believe in 14th heaven, 3rd heaven. Doesn’t matter. Whatever is your belief system, but do something practical to uplift your spirit. Isn’t it necessary? That broadmindedness is what we need to bring into people.

Guruji I love you a lot, do you love me?
My dear I have no choice (guruji and everybody laugh). I cant but love you and you cant but love me. Neither you have a choice, nor do I have a choice. I am the way I am and you I tell you have no choice, you try your best not to love. (laughs and applause) See how you will get into love. Hmmm? I think everyone should play the role of a guru, at least for couple of people if not everybody. Role of guru is to be in unconditional love, support someone for their good, without expecting anything in return, not even a thank you note. That role everyone should play for as many people as possible that’s good. Play the role of a guru in your lives. Not because they are related to you, they are good friend or yours, they did favour to you, you do a favour to somebody. Just unconditionally loving, and wishing for their growth. Wishing for their blossoming. Working towards the happiness of all mankind. Then that guru principle will blossom in you, that song you know ajo anantaya, it’s so beautiful. Ajo means the guru principle is never born, guru is never born and is infinite consciousness. And ever pure. Nidhyaya shuddhaya it’s always there, eternal and pure. And in the form of bliss, dwelling in every heart. Invoking that principle and becoming one with that principle there. When you keep doing service, going deep in meditation. Sachidananda the pure consciousness you’re vibrating throbbing consciousness, everything, every cell of you, body is vibrant with that energy. Consciousness, nobody can deplete that energy. Infinite energy, you are in connection with the infinite energy. Your cells are throbbing with joy. Radiating energy and peace and love to the whole world. That is the real essence of guru principle, soaking in guru principle. Hmmm? Ok?

Why do I have health problem, is it because of bad karma? Please explain.
Health problem happens for various reasons. One is when you violate the laws of nature. If you have the wrong food, wrong habits. Violated laws of nature, health problems come. Second of course, due to some past impressions, karmas, all that is there. But you need to have confidence mind over the body. Our mind can make a difference. Definitely.

Intention, attention and manifestation (Part II) by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar

Intention, attention and manifestation (Part II) by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
Our life runs through intention. Everything we do has either a desire or intention or unconscious habit attached to it. Whether you want to drink a glass of water, take a walk or sit and watch TV, first an intention arises in the mind. If you want to call it desire, as ‘a desire arises in the mind’, I have no objection. But there is a difference between intention and desire. People don’t understand this. Even if you say ‘I don’t want any desire”, it is a desire. “I want to be enlightened” is a desire. Better job, more wealth, live happily… die peacefully is also a desire!

Why some people desire gets fulfilled, others don’t? This is a question in many people. How many of you have this problem? It is very few in Art Of Living!! Somehow by hook or crook, or fluke, you got the skill to attend to your desire. Desire is a feverishness attached to a wish or a thought. The feverishness kills. If you have noticed people who are getting all this Emmy awards, Filmfare awards – prestigious awards in the world, they can’t contain their happiness. They get sick. They get panic attacks!!

Desire when fulfilled still leaves you empty. If not fulfilled, they make you miserable. This whole hippy movement happened because all desires were getting fulfilled. It all seemed futile, nothing to hold on to. Because desire doesn’t seem to be bringing fulfillment.

Unfulfilled desire gives a void. Fulfilled desire gives a greater void. It creates such feverishness; you can’t have a good night’s sleep. If desire is the mother of sorrow, then shouldn’t we desire? I am saying “I don’t want any desire”. If that is also a desire, what to do?!!

Here comes the knowledge, the secret knowledge of desire and intention. For example, you want to go to Mysore – a 3 hour journey. You sit in a car, drive, on the way stop, drink tea, coffee, whatever, and you reach in 3 hours. This is an intention. An intention is a thought that arises in you, remains with you and translates into an action – whether today, tomorrow, next year.

And desire is sitting in the car and being feverish, repeating “I want to go to Mysore, I want to go to Mysore”. You will not go to Mysore, you will go to mental hospital.

Most of the people in the world do not know the difference between intention and desire. Ancient people knew the secret. They called it sankalpa. Take an intention and leave it to the universe. Today if you go to temples, even in the west, or where there is a fountain, they say ‘make a wish and drop it’ – drop the coin.

An intention has to be dropped. Have an intention, have an attention and consciously drop it. It will start manifesting. If you hold on to the intention, intention becomes desire and desire causes heartache.

See your life in the bigger context. With intention in your hand, what do you do? See how many billion years have passed, how vast this universe is. With this vastness, the mind expands. This is what is sankalpa – so many billion years have passed, among all the billions of stars, among all the milky ways, in this small planet, in this small country, state, I take this intention; and drop it!!

When you do this, a phenomenon is happening within you. Mind, consciousness expands and this expanded consciousness recognizes what you need to be happy. Attention on the magnanimity of the creation? and intending what you want to manifest is an art in itself. Instead, what we do? We put our attention on what we don’t have!!

My grandmother would say “Chocolates are full. I have to go to chocolate shop!”. She will never say ‘it is empty’. She would say ‘chocolate is full’. Even in language, she wouldn’t use the negative word – don’t have. She would say angels are floating around and all they say is ‘let it be’. You say ‘I don’t have money’, they say ‘let it be’!! It was like that for her, you know – always smiling, cheerful, positive state of mind.

Intention, attention and manifestation. They are linked. The go together. But if our attention is always about something negative… Your attention goes to fights, to problem. If someone is doing good work, your attention doesn’t go there. Create a scandal and see your interest! Unless you know all about that, you don’t feel comfortable. If your mind is clinging on to negative, that’s what is going to grow. If you tell your child, ‘you are stupid’, he will remain stupid. Because your attention is on foolish, stupid.

People don’t understand this. They sit and visualize – I am becoming rich, rich! Instead of attention, intention they turn the intention into a feverish desire and become depressed. In positive thinking, you suppress, suppress and somewhere it all becomes negative.

This is a skill. You know, there is a certain group that tells people to wake up in the morning and sit and tell “I love myself, I love myself, I love myself”. And they get sick!! See, you know you are in Bangalore. You don’t have to repeat you are in Bangalore. You keep affirming, you keep saying “I am strong”, somewhere you think you are weak, so you have to keep affirming.

Intention is not fighting with a stream of thought that is coming in the mind. Intention is beyond fleeting positive and negative thoughts. In your mind, you get so many thoughts, but not everything translates into action. Why? Only those thoughts that translates into intention becomes action.

Let us see the distinction between desire and intention.
Intention has a purpose
Desire has feverishness.
Intention has a goal.

Desire’s goals are really not good because desire is always linked to happiness and no event or object can bring you to the happiness you really want.

If your attention is all the time on the negative, switch it to positive. Just being aware of it, it already switches. Then give the time for it to manifest.

Some of you have this habit. Saying Always. “I always have pain”. That is what is going to happen. In Bible also there is a saying, “Those who have more shall be given to them, those who do not have what they have will also be taken away”. The feeling of abundance, feeling you have abundance and abundance will grow. You put your attention on lack and lack will grow.
A gentleman got 1 million dollar in a lottery. He became so sad. Previous day, he had seen a house that cost 1.2 million! “Just 0,2 million and I would have got my house!”. Even though he won a lottery, he became depressed. Desire is never with what we have here and now. It always gallops – leaves your legs tired and hands empty. And meditation is the skill in which you learn how to drop the intention and relax, let go!

You know there is a saying – ask, and it shall be given. We never even attended to it. Your attention is not there. You never put your intention on it and you say it didn’t manifest. Many people who say “I am poor” do not put their intention and attention on it. It’s not enough to say “I want money”. You have to be specific – who do you want to be wealthy? In the temples, they say “this child born on this day, this grand child born on that day”… after or before meditation, you put your intention. I want this much money, this to happen, this to be solved – and drop it.

Many times you do not really enjoy what you wanted. Kids, it happens. They want something, get it and they don’t want it! Clarity comes only through depth of meditation and meditation cannot happen when mind is feverish with desire.

Bringing desire to intention, putting attention and allowing time to manifest is a really intelligent way to deal with desire. When you are sick, you put an attention on it “I am sick, I am sick”… I am not saying, you put an affirmation – “I am healthy, I am healthy”.
In Bali, Indonesia, they greet “Swasthirasthu”. Swa means self. Swasthi means ‘established in the self’. Swasthirasthu means “may you be established in the self”. Swaastha means not just physical health. Physical, mental and spiritual health is ’swaasthya’. In India, nobody greets that way. But in Bali, they greet that way. ‘Om swasthirasthu’ – of course in festivals, pundits chant that. But others don’t understand!!

Question: If you drop an intention, how can it convert into action?
Sri Sri: Just like you want to go to Delhi, and drop it, it automatically converts into an action. If you hold on to it, what will happen to you??

Intention should go with a feeling. It is not reading, “Oh, what is the intention I should have today?”. Intention is a need that comes within you. There is a deep yearning for it. Then it becomes an intention. Like someone wants a car or transportation, they really need a car, then you just put an intention, sankalpa – I really need this.

One is fantasy – it is not a real need, your heart, your soul is not longing for it. Like someone else has a car, I also want a car. Someone has a bigger house. I also want. This is not a need. It is not going to happen. If you say “I’m so tired of moving houses, and more people are coming and I need a bigger hall”, then it is an intention. And then you add the clause “Anything better than this is ok”. “This or anything better than this, I can accept”.

But if you have not kept your commitment, you are not sincere, you are cheating, nature will know that. It will also cheat you! Nature will also not give you the power to manifest what you intend!

In Yoga Sutras, Patanjali says there are five yamas one has to follow before asana.

Ahimsa – Non-violence. What do you get by being non-violent? In your presence, everyone else will lose their violence. One who is established in non-violence, in their presence others will also lose violent tendencies within.

One of our teachers in Botswana, a young woman – she was kidnapped by 5-6 gunmen. How many of you know this? You should hear from her own words. They took her in the car. She was laughing and she said “If you do any harm to me, your family will not be happy!”. She said, “see, I have a Guru!”. They said, ‘what is a guru’ and then she gave them an intro talk!! She spoke to them half an hour and they left her. Then they gave her the passport back. You listen to her own story. It is very funny! And the terrorist said sorry to her! They tried to push her, she said “It’s paining, don’t do that”. They said “Oh sorry madam!”.

We don’t know the power of yoga, meditation. How 6 terrorists in Botswana, it has never happened in history, they have left just like that and given the passport back!

Another teacher from India, went to Moscow. Four men came and started speaking in Hindi and then told him “You have five hours. Lets go have some tea”. He went with them innocently and they took him and locked him. He broke the door. They have guns and this gentleman without any weapons could face and get away from them, unhurt! They also gave him money to get to the airport!

Couple of other stories are there, in Calcutta, they kidnapped and brought him back.

If you have the conviction, if you are established in non-violence, in your presence, surroundings, violence drops. Violence turns into non-violence. This I have seen again and again. Why should you follow truth? Because that will fructify your actions. That much enough for today.

Question: About Varlakshmi Vratham and what it symbolises
Sri Sri: They take a pot, put rice, crown it with a coconut, invoke the Divine and feel the abundance. Not just for me, for everybody. They say, give me enough, so whoever comes to my house will not be hungry. Grant me the wish for abundance. Wanting abundance for whose sake/ Not for oneself, so that I can help everybody! They feel Lakshmi has already come home. Lakshmi is invited to every home and stays at every home. There is enough for everyone in this planet. Don’t be greedy, don’t be selfish. There is abundance in every life.

Sit quiet for a few minutes and feel the abundance. Close your eyes and feel you have abundance of everything – good qualities, money, health everything.

INTENTION ATTENTION MANIFESTATION (JAN 4TH 2004 – CANADIAN ASHRAM)

INTENTION ATTENTION MANIFESTATION (JAN 4TH 2004 – CANADIAN ASHRAM)
The association of a particular sense object, over and over, creates a sense of craving for it. If you’re used to eating ice cream almost everyday (laughter), then you get craving for it. If you’re used to drinking coffee… You were not born with a coffee craze. (laughter) Nobody is born with a craving for coffee, but you have started a habit within you. That habit has created a craving. How did you start? It didn’t happen one day. Even if you ask the addicts, the addiction doesn’t start in one day. Addiction starts with the repeated experience of the same thing. So repeated experience of a particular thing creates an addiction or a habit. The nature of habit is that it doesn’t give you joy but it gives you pain. To leave that, it becomes a pain… in the neck (laughs). But having it is not giving you bliss or ecstasy. This is the definition for habits. So you are drinking coffee, its not carrying you to heaven, but leaving it gives you headache. Similarly alcohol, drugs… all those who are drunk alcoholics you look at their face. Its so sad and remorse. They are not in such beautiful/smiling or ecstatic state of consciousness. They are not in a state of consciousness filled with joy. In fact they’re other way round. Not a bit of joy in alcoholics face. Even if you squeeze it, not a drop of joy will come out. (laughter) The alcohol has cleanly dried all that stuff from it. The joy with which one is born. The joy/innocence has been robbed away. Washed out. So alcoholism, sex addiction, any other type of… drug addiction. All these are result of repeated experience or association of a particular sense with the object of a sense. So you think about it and you want it more. And in New York prison, a child abuse criminal was asked what is your desire… before his capital punishment he was asked. He said ban all pornography. I would like all the pornographic magazines to be banned. Because that is what one puts their attention to and that is where the craving begins in the system. More and more and more.

It’s a fine line, you know. So with the association, what happens? Desire for it rises. More. To have it. With the desire what comes next? Weather a desire is fulfilled or unfulfilled anger comes. Whenever someone is angry, behind that anger you will see there is a desire. A craving. The craving brings? Anger. So you get angry at somebody. The next step is you get attachment for somebody. And whomsoever you are angry at, sooner or later you’re going to regret. And that regret brings more attachment to that person. Or that situation or that thing. By regretting you don’t move away from that something, about that something. You go more into it. You will see, whomsoever you hate/you are angry at… you think of them more than anybody else, (even) yourself. You know why you should not hate anybody? Do you know why? The reason? You shouldn’t hate somebody because you become like somebody you hate. You think of someone whom you love, you have such a nice pleasant feeling arising within you. And you think of someone whom you hate, your nervous system undergoes some distortion. There is a tension/distortion happening within your system. That means what? Your nervous system is becoming or assuming the form of the person whom you dislike. And you keep doing it again and again and again. You get all that impression, your system becomes like them. So when you become like them you get drawn to them. And that is entanglement. Desire or obsession. I can’t call it desire. An OBSESSION brings anger. Anger brings entanglement. And entanglement clouds the intellect. Your becomes blurred. Your wisdom is lost, judgement is lost, sharpness of awareness is lost, your accessing the situation is lost. It’s a chain reaction, one after another. And such a subtle manner it happens, you don’t even realize it. The entanglement weather out of like or out of hate can cloud the intellect. And the clouded/distorted intellect doesn’t let you be in peace. Doesn’t even bring up the emotions in you. Subtle feelings in you. Any feeling you’ll be getting is grossed within that, violent feelings. You don’t feel lighter when there is hatred within you. Have you noticed? When there is worry in your head, do you feel calm? Do you feel a lighter feeling? And you walk around with a load of worries in your head. And it shows up in your face, in your vibrations, it spreads in your entire environment. And nobody likes to come near you or talk to you or do anything with you. (Lady giggles). Your vibration indicates weather there is lead inside you or there is flowers within you. Are you light like cotton candy within? (laughter) Or are you like a stone inside? What’s happening there? This shows up in your vibrations. In your surroundings. Can’t you see that? You look at someone who’s so worried you come to feel oh there is such a sense of heaviness. And heaviness is contrary to joy, contrary to love and contrary to all that you cherish as human values.

With this the memory is lost. Memory of pleasant things are lost. Life has got two sets of memories. One is the memory of unpleasant things the other is memory of pleasant things. Children often have the memory of pleasant things more than unpleasant things. That’s why they keep themselves cheerful most of the time. And as we grow older, as we lose our innocence, our unpleasant memories increase than the pleasant ones. Say again, the spiritual practices/meditation is to put the wheel back. Is to bring back the pleasant memories more and more and more. And unpleasant memories to almost insignificant amount. So when the memory is lost, the memory of who am I? What do I want in my life? The memory of reality, the truth. Seeing life in context with the universe that’s called wisdom. If that is lost. There is no peace left. And there is no happiness in life. So the practices, meditation… all these things that you do here, is to withdraw the mind and take it to its source. Even for few minutes. And then you see you feel so fresh, light. How many of you feel like that? And most of the world is missing this key to success in life. What people out there do not know is this simple wisdom, simple knowledge of life… of returning back and coming into action. The self, it referral value, consciousness. (Paras note: Didn’t get that line). Which makes it rich, energetic, pleasant, beautiful. Hmmm? What do you say? (Applause)

So again and again. Pull back your attention from the objects of the senses, into the senses and to the source of mind. Source of consciousness. This journey within, gives you that strength/endurance. Makes you endure all different situations in life. How pleasant/unpleasant they are.

See have you ever expressed your displeasure without getting mad or losing yourself? Huh? Ask yourself have you done it? And those are the moments, which are being beneficial even if you were mad. You can get mad I don’t mind, but not that anger in which you are lost, you are shivering/shaking. Showing the anger… I mean in life it’s impossible to deal in all situations without at least sometimes somewhere showing anger. (Paras note: Shiva symbolism at the bottom *) Don’t expect life to be a sort of flat, bland, goody-goody thing. Sometimes you have to show anger. You have to be angry. It’s alright. Its ok. But those moments have you noticed if it is really not taking away your centeredness? Your peace? That is most important. There was a sage, a rishi, was called Durwasa. Usually people, when someone is very angry, they say oh he’s like Durwasa. Terrible temper. He was a sage. A saint with so much anger. You know for that saint, that anger was an exercise. To see weather in spite of all that anger that he didn’t lose himself. Lose the centeredness. Was not afraid of anger. Sometimes you know you’re so sacred of your own anger. “Oh I got angry, oh I lost it, oh I’m so sorry, I’m so stupid, all these years of meditation didn’t take me anywhere.” (mad laughter). “I still get mad, I still lose it.” What are you doing? Self-blame culture have started. Nurturing it. “Oh its useless doing all this meditation. All these years of sadhna gone waste. I still get angry, I can’t improve.” This sort of self-criticism you did, you delve into. This is not… you know. Durwasa reminds you. That was only one example of one rishi who used to get angry. And every time he got angry he did something wonderful to the world. (laughs) Said with every anger that Durwasa had, the world rejoiced. Once it so happened, Durwasa he came to town with his huge gang of disciples. (Guruji does funny gestures. Laughter) And went to a devotees house between the forest. At that time Kings were living in exile. And he went to their home. Said I’m very hungry. And at that very moment all of them had had lunch, washed all their vessels and put everything out. Everyday they would go fetch food and come and cook and have food. They never used to store food at home. So when everybody had finished their lunch… here comes Durwasa. And with a huge gang of people with him. Now the lady of the house, Draupadhi, she didn’t know what to do with Rishi Durwasa. It’s a custom that whenever a guest comes to your home and their hungry, it’s your obligation to feed them. You don’t do it, its not even considered as a decency, courtesy, to say ‘oh there is no food’. Can’t even say that, not considered decent. And Durwasa if he gets angry, don’t know? (laughter). The drop of a hat he gets angry. So then Krishna was there. She went to Krishna, please tell me, you’re my brother, you have to do something. How do I do? Durwasa has come with his whole gang. (laughs). So Krishna is always tricky. (laughter). He was too intelligent. As a trickster he know how to handle every situation. He went and spoke to Rishi Durwasa and said ‘oh wonderful, what great luck, what a great opportunity you coming here. You have given such a chance to my sister to host you here. But it would be so nice, you need to take a shower and see you’ve come with all these people, such a long distance and so many of you walking. All the dust has come into your clothes and all. You need to take a bath! (laughter). There is a nice river and wonderful temperature of water. Why don’t you go take bath.’ So Krishna persuaded him and he said ok I’m going to take a bath. So they went to take a bath. Meanwhile Krishna went to his sister and said show me the vessel, if the vessel has even little bit in it… then I will see what could be done. So Dhraupadhi went to the pot and it was already washed and she took one grain of rice. Was sticking to the pot. Coz it was not washed properly. (Mad laughter). Because when she was washing it, she heard the news that Durwasa is coming! (Crazy mad laughter). That frightened her, so it was not washed properly. One grain of rice was sticking to the vessel. And Krishna took that grain and then he made that sankalpa (intention) and he ate that grain. And said by the time they all took their baths and returned they were so full! Don’t cook any food for us we are so full. We are not hungry any more.

This is one version of the story. (Guruji jokes) I think that’s the correct version, I don’t know. (Extra crazy mad laughter and applause. Other version is one grain multiplied into so much and then all the thousands could eat. It’s the second version. But anyway, weather the rice multiplied or without eating they all felt so full because Krishna at it with the intention. So that’s called Akshay Parkroyal/parkruya (spelling). That means a vessel that never diminishes. Always more that comes. And this happens many times, many times in our satsangs it’s happened. People come, very little food, sometimes people bring 2-3 people. 50-60 people have eaten. Has happened not ones, many times. Many of you know also. (Paras note: Sai Baba and other spiritual homies did it too)

So it is that intention. The attention. And manifestation. That’s how the universe functions. Intention>Attention>Manifestation. So wherever you put your attention, that starts manifesting in your life. So you put too much attention on anger then anger manifests. Too much attention on lust, lust manifests. Greed, greed manifests. So you show anger, without intending to get angry. When the intention is love even anger does good. That’s what the case was with Durwasa. So every time he was angry, some great thing happened on the planet. And he did only good. To all mankind. Are you with me? So observe the intention and put your attention where you have to put it. Whatever you want, that to manifest. Focus on love and let love manifest.

Symbolism: Typed this before but couldn’t find it. Ok so you know there’s many forms of Lord Shiva. Neelakanta is his name for the one with a dark neck/blue spot on the neck. Shiva drank the poison and it settled in his neck as he did not take it in. My first AOL guru told me that the symbolism is that when we’re angry… take it out from your neck upward… as in voice it out/show it in your eyes/etc… but don’t let your heart get into it.
