Important note: Don’t even bother reading this book if you don’t know Norm’s comedic stylings like how the goes all the way around a story to end with no punchline or how he like using old phrases and words. This book is pretty much the same, a mix of mad and twisted stories with some reality. To get a better picture of who Norm was you may want to check this out first.
– Starts off with how his wiki page pronounced him as dead and why he decided to write an account of his own life.
– His interview with Lorne Michael. He recounts memories that seem to either be exaggerated or really just yarns.
– “He doesn’t look way past zero” and “my mom did all the talking for me back because I hadn’t got the hang of it” (when he was a baby).
– Stories of hunting.
– There is one chapter which is 10 seconds long that just says ‘I forget’.
– Lots of ‘stories’ including Adam Eget, gambling, morphine.
– His inside scoop on Rodney Dangerfield is that he didn’t get no respect and the story of Rodney sitting on his fathers lap/chair but the chair was an electric chair. He’s basically retelling Rodney’s jokes.
– Once in a while someone else narrates in the audiobook observing Norms behaviour and life. Terrence Keane, the ghostwriter character in Norm Macdonald’s audiobook, a fictional persona voiced by Tim O’Halloran.
– I would have liked to know the real details of his firing from Weekend Update.
