After 2 years I got round to breaking this one open. The book includes an audio CD and is really meant to be spoken word poetry. Just listening to her voice took me back to the first time I heard spoken word poetry back in the day. Think it was A Different World sitcom… anyway Imani took me back. The way she did it was perfect.

So the CD had some tracks that are in the book, the first track Inspiration is the best. It’s been putting me to sleep every night, I think mostly coz it’s got a beat to it so the flow is much more smoother than just normal spoken word poetry. Some of her work has signs of India.Arie, Floetry and another soul artist.

Oh and as usual artist add a little imperfections naturally so make their work perfect and her pretending to be ignorant of men’s egos and human nature sprinkle just the right amount of ignorance to give you some drama and let you know she’s as human and everyone else.

Note: Love the photography on the back of her CD so kudos to the designer that hooked that up. I’ve been so inspired I’m gonna finish the new ending for poem I never got to share with mom. Big up Taz for the book and CD. My bad for taking so long lol.
