They are considered to be related to the funnel-web spider. The venom is so similar that either antivenom proves to be effective. Very few instances of ‘venomation’ and low toxicity. They don’t always inject venom when they bite.

They’re less toxic than funnel webs but more toxic than redbacks given a 7/10 rating. The female venom is not as strong as the male.

Symptoms of the bite include muscle spasms, profuse sweating, intense pain and unconsciousness.

If you get bitten, the smart bandage pressure technique is recommended. I couldn’t find much info on it so if you have any idea please let me know and I’ll add it here.

They have sexual dimorphism which means males and females look significantly different.

The female’s house entrance is very well concealed and usually has double entrances.

Their eye arrangement is usually 2 groups of 3 eyes and a central pair.

Their ‘head’ is very strangely shaped compared to other spiders.
